Real wedding: Kaitlyn and Luke’s Ballarat wedding

Categories Real weddings.
02 Sep, 2020

Teenage sweethearts Kaitlyn and Luke wanted a wedding party to remember and they definitely knocked it out of the park for their marquee wedding at Bishop’s Palace in Ballarat.

Music was a pivotal part of their night. Having seen a One More Song DJ play at one of their good friend’s wedding in the recent past, they chose to have a DJ and sax player rock their dance floor.

Check out Victorian wedding blog Ivory Tribe’s writeup of this real wedding.

The vendors

The couple put together a rock star crew of vendors for their day. Photos were captured by Jai from Free The Bird Photography and video by Steph Clifford Films (check out the highlights below!).

Food was by Carlton Catering and let’s not forget about that champagne tower, supplied by Trove Hire. They even had a disco ball from Oh La Lemonade – we love their style!

The party

Wasting no time, the couple arrived in pure style, kicking the party off with a champagne tower (now THAT’s how you make an entrance!).

Kenny on sax joined the DJ as the party got started. And what a party it was! By all reports there were some very sore feet at the end of the night!

One of the couple’s favourite moments by far was the epic dance floor: “literally the funnest wedding I’ve ever been too. Maybe I’m biased, but everyone, even our grandparents were up on the dance floor, Pa was even up on someone’s shoulders through the night, as were we – it was wild!”

The music brief

The couple had a lot of fun soundtracking their day, choosing fun and energetic songs for the key parts of their reception:

  • Wedding party entrance: Turn Down For What – DJ Snake
  • Bride + groom entrance: Finally (7″ Choice Mix) – CeCe Peniston
  • Champagne tower: Tipsy – J-Kwon
  • First dance: Moondance – Van Morrison
  • Party starter: Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell
  • Bouquet toss: Move Bitch – Disturbing The Peace, Ludacris
  • Sparkler exit: A Sky Full Of Stars – Coldplay
  • Final song: Home – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

An honourable mention is one of our favourite mashups – Dance With Somebody In A Hopeless Place – Calvin Harris Feat. Rhianna x Whitney Houston which was an absolute must have for Kaitlyn and it brought the house down!
