Real wedding: Kat and Andrew’s classy affair at Ormond Hall
Categories Real weddings.29 Aug, 2020
Kat and Andrew booked DJ Aleks Mac after being referred to us by their venue, The Big Group’s Ormond Hall. The couple was super organised and dotted personal touches throughout their day. These included individual notes inside the guests’ name cards and small bottles of Hendricks for them to take home at the end of the night. Check out Victorian wedding blog Ivory Tribe’s write-up of this real wedding.
The venue
Ormond Hall is a historic building in the heart of Melbourne known for its epic parties. It has a classic, old worldly feel and a number of spaces for your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. It has a beautiful stage where DJ Aleks Mac did her thang!
The vendors
Kat is a super organised individual and had no trouble locking down her and Andrew’s dream suppliers. Self-proclaimed “hospitalitarians” (and owners of the venue) The Big Group helped coordinate it all and looked after the catering. The dreamy blue-hued florals were supplied by Flowers Vasette and star photographer Tanya Volt captured all the action (and there was a lot of it!).
The music brief
Kat and Andrew’s music brief was oldies, chart hits, house and hip hop. They provided four playlists from their engagement party, including one that only had “rippers” in it (Kat’s words). They knew what they wanted!
Their wedding party entrance song was Pony – Ginuwine and their first dance (which went into the father/daughter dance) song was the classic My Girl – The Temptations.
The party
Woah! The dance floor did not stop. Kat changed into a gorgeous white suit so was comfortable to dance all night – and she did! The last few sing-alongs included the bride and groom riding their friends’ shoulders!
The couple also chose our lights for their reception, which added some colourful energy to the floral arrangements and stage.
