Real wedding: Megan and Silv’s love filled party at Studley Park Boathouse

When a couple books our “Triple Threat” package (Celebrant, DJ and MC), it allows for a seamless flow from the very first guest arrival to the final song of the night.

Aleks Mac had the privilege of looking after Megan and Silv for their entire day in the Conservatory at the stunning Studley Park Boathouse.

From a unique ceremony set up to “ninja wows” and a sax-infused dance floor, this wedding was filled with heart, humour, and some serious Italian flair.

Here is a look at their romantic, fun-filled day.

The vibe: Surrounded by love

Megan and Silv wanted their day to feel intimate and connected. Breaking away from tradition, they decided to skip the standard aisle setup. Instead, they gathered their guests inside the room to form a circle, creating a “standing circle” ceremony.

This setup created a warm, “indie chill” atmosphere right from the start, ensuring the couple was literally wrapped in love by their friends and family as they said “I do”.

The ceremony: A love story full of lols

Aleks kicked things off with a “fast photo minute,” allowing guests to snap a quick pic before putting phones away for an unplugged ceremony.

Sharing their story was a massive highlight. The couple met back in 2016 at Oz Design Furniture, where Megan was actually training Silv. It wasn’t a workplace romance, though. Although both women were interested in each other, neither really knew where they stood. But once they made their feelings known, it was ON!

The proposal story also got a huge laugh – Megan proposed on a gondola in Venice. She had a speech prepared, but the Gondolier started celebrating and yelling to passing boats before Silv had even answered! (She eventually said yes once she got over the shock).

The ninja vows

Instead of traditional personal vows, the couple chose “ninja vows” – promises written for the other person to read without seeing them beforehand (read more about ninja vows in our vow writing tips blog).

Amongst other vows, Megan promised to “stop singing when I don’t know the words… like a tone-deaf chipmunk”. Silv vowed to “stay awake at movies, concerts, and in the car” (admitting she can sleep anywhere!).

The music

Silv and Megan requested Indie and chilled electronic tunes for pre-ceremony as guests arrived, half an hour before the ceremony kicked off.

Here were their ceremony key songs:

• Signing the register: Best Part – Daniel Caesar ft. H.E.R. and Dive – Olivia Dean.
• Ceremony exit/finish: I Love You Baby – Surf Mesa.

The party: Sax, disco & Dannii

After the ceremony, the vibe shifted to a cocktail party with plenty of carbs (pizza and platters!) to fuel the dancing.

For the reception, Aleks switched into DJ and MC mode. The brief was “dance through the decades,” with a mix of Disco, 80s/90s Pop, Motown, and a specific request for some Italian Classics.

Key musical moments:

• First dance: The couple chose If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys. To take it to the next level, our sax player, Kenny, surprised guests and popped out of the kitchen to play live alongside the track (check out the first dance in this Instagram reell).
• The vibe: The dance floor energy was high with everything from 90s dance to Harry Styles, making sure Megan’s family and Silv’s friends were all on the floor. Kenny kept the energy high with 2 hours of saxy goodness.
• The finale: The night wrapped up with a banger – This Is It by Dannii Minogue.

It was an honour for Aleks and Kenny to guide Megan and Silv through every beat of their day. Congratulations, legends!
