Real wedding: Claire + Mot’s winery wedding

Claire and Mot (“Motty”) got hitched at the incredible winery venue Marnong Estate, only 35 minutes north of Melbourne’s CBD. The couple had the perfect day surrounded by friends and family with DJ Aleks Mac and saxophonist Kat keeping the dance floor full. Read on for more inspiration from this real winery wedding!

The planning process

Claire and Mot were super organised (their original wedding date was in October 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions).

The bride explains the process the couple went through when researching their suppliers:

“I found 90% of our suppliers on Instagram. The platform gives you a really good indication of real life weddings and what ‘vibe’ that vendor could bring to your wedding.”

“I spent hours upon hours searching hashtags, looking through sites and watching short clips to choose a few. I also felt that communication early was key too, ensuring you touch base and find out if someone was available for your set date before getting too deep into conversation”.

The venue

Marnong Estate is sprawled over 1,200 acres and offers multiple locations for both wedding ceremonies and receptions. Claire and Motty chose The Shed – with panoramic views of the Macedon ranges – for their reception. After the celebrations, they stayed on site in boutique accommodation on the property.

The Shed has a great sized dance floor and includes a suite which acts as the wedding party’s retreat. It is connected to the main reception space with huge barn doors that make for epic entrances!

The vendors

Through their careful planning, Claire and Motty chose suppliers they trusted and who worked with them when they had to postpone.

The couple was married by Melbourne celebrant Kate Morgan. Photographer Ell from Shot From The Heart beautifully captured the day in stills while videographer Dreamlife Melbourne filmed the entire wedding. The elaborate florals were provided by Petals Flowers Co.

And of course, we provided the entertainment!

The music brief

When it came to music, Claire and Mot said their friends and family loved to dance! The couple requested a great mix of pop classics from all decades, disco, hip hop and RnB.

Their key moment songs reflected this brief:

• Wedding party entrances: For You – Liam Payne, Rita Ora
• First dance: Anyone – Justin Bieber
• Dance floor starter: Jubel – Klingande (first song for Kat on sax!)
• Bouquet toss: Single Ladies – Beyonce
• Final song: I Wanna Dance With Somebody – Whitney Houston.

The dance floor was full all night and even involved an impromptu conga line to The Vengaboys!
