Real wedding: Erin and Lee’s surprise inner city nuptials
Categories Real weddings.15 Sep, 2020
Erin and Lee’s wedding was full of surprises! The travel-loving couple faked an elopement in Venice, fooling friends and family. Upon their return home, they invited guests to their Melbourne “wedding party” (at Top Paddock in Richmond). An hour into their party, their unsuspecting guests were told they were actually at Erin and Lee’s real wedding!
We had the joy of providing the tunes from pre-ceremony right through to the final song at 1am, with DJ Aleks Mac behind the decks and saxophonist Max surprising guests during the first dance. Check out the dance floor action in the video below.
The venue
Erin and Lee chose the modern inner city cafe/function space Top Paddock. They wanted something unassuming so they could surprise their guests!

The ceremony
Acting as the MC, groom Lee announced an hour in that the elopement photo posted on Instagram was fake and Erin and Lee were about to get hitched! Guests squealed as DJ Aleks Mac played Jagged Edge’s Let’s Get Married and the venue staff prepared the aisle!
Sassy celebrant Precious officiated the ceremony (read more in our blog 5 minutes with Melbourne wedding celebrant Precious). Erin got changed into a bridal gown and walked down the aisle to Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel. DJ Aleks Mac played the tropical sounding I Got U by Duke Dumont ft. Jax Jones as the ceremony finish tune.
The first dance
One of the best moments of the night was the surprise sax halfway through Erin and Lee’s first dance. Max came out to the much-loved saxy tune Jubel by Klingande, and interacted with guests for a fun two hours of dance floor.
The music brief
Erin and Lee are big music-lovers and Ibiza fans, so wanted lots of house, disco, funk and soul. The tunes were not your typical cliched wedding tunes. Guests loved the music and danced throughout the whole evening, even before the dance floor had officially started!
The night ended with Daft Punk’s One More Time – a fitting end to a fun and energetic wedding.
