Real wedding: Georgia + George’s celebration at Little Henri, Thornbury

Categories Real weddings.
03 Jun, 2021

When Georgia and George’s November 2020 wedding had to be postponed due to COVID restrictions in Melbourne, they took matters into their own hands. The pair got married at a small ceremony at the end of the year and planned for the reception to take place in February 2021! Read on for more about this fun and relaxed real wedding.

The venue

After going through a postponement, the couple just wanted their wedding reception to be a relaxed party. They chose beloved Thornbury cafe Little Henri as the venue for their cocktail style reception. The cafe has a leafy outdoor courtyard, marble bar and plenty of space for a dance floor. It can seat 70 guests for a sit down wedding and up to 150 for a cocktail wedding.

For Georgia and George’s wedding, guests moved inside for dancing next to the bar – perfect positioning!

Other vendors

Vibrant photographer Nikki McCrone took the stunning photos featured in this blog. Bride Georgia wore Grace Loves Lace and had her hair and make up done by cruelty free hair and make up artist Make Up By Inez.

And of course, we provided the entertainment for this super fun reception! DJ Aleks Mac brought the tunes on the night.

The music brief

George and Georgia’s key moment songs were dominated by classic tunes with a newer track for their entrance (only the bride and groom did an entrance)! They were:

  • Wedding party entrance: Heartline – Broods
  • Cake cutting/first dance: What A Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong
  • Dance floor starter: Love Is In The Air – John Paul Young
  • Final song: Save Tonight – Eagle Eye Cherry.

The couple’s general music brief was extremely varied. They provided some of their own artist and song requests as well as requests from their guests. What resulted was a DJ set with music from all decades with all ages on the dance floor.

There was everything from 70s disco (Bee Gees) to 90s pop (Ace of Base) and hip hop (Biggie!), through to more recent tropical house (Kygo), EDM (Calvin Harris) and RnB (Lizzo, Drake and The Weeknd)!
