Real wedding: High energy Indie vibes at Brunswick Mess Hall!

Oh, daytime weddings – what a vibe! Be done by 6pm and keep the party going. Madi and Aaron, hitched at one of our fave local venues, Brunswick Mess Hall, did just that. Read on to find out more!

The venue

The stunning heritage-listed Brunswick Mess Hall is one unique wedding venue. It also happens to be around a 30 second walk from our house. But that aside, it’s just epic.

With high curved ceilings and wooden beams plus hanging greenery throughout, the main hall is a sight to behold. The venue also has a number of cool spaces both indoors and outdoors, including two gorgeous rooms at the front (with exposed brick and greenery) that are perfect for a little disco break or a photo booth!

The Asian cuisine is also absolutely mouth-watering (don’t look up the menu on the Brunswick Mess Hall website if you’re hungry!).

Oh, and the venue has an in-house sound system with speakers and a wireless microphone. We literally come in, set up our DJ decks and laptop, sound check and we’re ready to go!

The music brief

Despite being held during the day, Madi and Aaron’s music brief was full of bangers! DJ Aleks Mac spun an eclectic and high energy mix of classic and newer house (think Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk and Duke Dumont), Indie rock and dance bangers (hello, White Stripes and The Presets) and some tried and tested classic tunes (from artists such as Aretha Franklin, Madonna and Queen). The couple and their wedding party entered back into the reception to the classic wedding favourite, September by Earth, Wind & Fire!

Madi and Aaron also learnt the famous dance from Pulp Fiction and did the entire thing as their first dance – so cool!

Although the guest list was only around 50 guests, the dance floor was bangin’ and the crew kicked on til late next door at Nono.
