A venue for relaxed, party-loving couples
Congratulations – you’ve chosen a cracking wedding venue!
We’re Eddy and Aleks Mac – two wedding DJs who are OBSESSED with the Post Office Hotel. We’ve worked there many times and it’s no secret that it’s one of our absolute favourite venues.
For a fun and relaxed party vibe with great food, drinks and lovely staff, you can’t go past the Post Office Hotel!
Why we love the Post Office Hotel for weddings
The location!
The Post Office Hotel is located only 9km from Melbourne’s CBD, making it convenient for guests to travel to and from.
Plus, you’re close to Brunswick, which is full of late-night spots to party on in afterwards (if you still have the energy!).
Sit down or cocktail wedding – Both work fabulously!
The dedicated function venue next door to the pub – the Dining Hall – can be adapted to suit receptions large and small, with the capacity to comfortably seat up to 130 guests or host up to a whopping 250 guests for a cocktail style reception.
We have done both cocktail and sit down weddings at the Post Office Hotel and both types work so well. The bar and dance floor are perfectly positioned for a banging party.
An all-in one venue for both ceremony and reception
One of our favourite things is you can have your entire day all in the one venue. As guests arrive, they can mingle inside the hall in front of the bar or on the deck in the private beer garden. Then you can get hitched on the deck and hang around for cocktail hour, moving back inside for your reception and dancing! Your guests don’t need to go anywhere else.
This makes the flow of the day much easier to manage.

Top tips for your POH wedding
Pre-ceremony vibes
We’ll always recommend drinks on arrival and this is no different for the Post Office Hotel!
Having some drinks as guests arrive for your ceremony really sets a fun and relaxed tone for the rest of the day. Have a chat to the friendly POH team about whether pre-ceremony drinks fit into your budget.
HOT TIP: Check out the colourful cocktails with edible flowers that you would have seen at the POH Open Day. We love these as a refreshing wedding starter!
The ceremony
You’ve probably seen those vibrant streamer installations from our friends at Bangin Hangins.
We’ve had these at our POH weddings in a number of different spots, including:
- A full ceiling installation that sits over the dance floor and outdoor deck
- Wedding arbour arch
- Backdrop for a photo booth!
You can choose a colour palette that resembles a rainbow, or opt for more muted tones. Both options look fab in the venue and just cream PARTY.

Cocktail hour!
Once you’re hitched, you can breathe a sigh of relief and know it’s party time!
We love cocktail hour at the POH. In your own private beer garden, enjoy drinks and canapes, mingle with guests and take some just-married photos.
Cocktail hour usually takes place across both the indoor hall and outdoor deck, with the bar perfectly positioned in between.
For tunes, we recommend booking us from the start of the day for a nice flow, but at the very least, kicking off straight after the ceremony with some upbeat cocktail hour tunes!
The reception
Whether you’re having a sit down or cocktail wedding, the thing we love about the POH is the dance floor is often given a very decent amount of time on the run sheet.
There are also no sound restrictions, with the doors to the deck able to be closed so you can enjoy tunes without worrying about the neighbours.
Our set up
Setting up at the POH is easy – we live 5 minutes up the road!
We usually set up on the morning of your wedding so everything is ready to go nice and early!
The POH sound system is great for the microphone, with speakers throughout the venue (including on the deck), however we also bring two of our own speakers for extra dance floor oomph.
Watch this Instagram reel with Eddy showing the behind-the-scenes of how we set up in the venue.
Extras we recommend
If you’re booking us as your DJ at the POH, there are some popular extras we recommend:
- If you haven’t booked your celebrant yet, have a chat to us about having us perform this very important duty (Aleks is a registered celebrant as at September 2024, and Eddy will be registered in November 2024). Find out more about how this works in our podcast episode where we chat all things celebrancy with Aleks.
- Our lights look epic at The Post Office Hotel. Check out this Instagram reel of Stacey + Andrew’s wedding at the venue, featuring our lights.
- Want extra memories to capture? Our digital photo booth is a hit at the POH. It can be set up inside, or as is more common, outside on the deck. Reuse your ceremony arbour, arch or floral plinths as a backdrop for the photo booth and enjoy it for a few hours during the night!
- Speaking of extra memories, our audio guest books are also popular additions. Choose pastel pink, white or black and pop it into the wishing table with our cute instructional sign.
- We also offer sax players and MC services – both popular services that can be added on after you book with us (sax will depend on availability). Check out our full range of services here.
Our DJ style!
We reckon our DJ style perfectly suits the big party vibe you get the POH!
