Real wedding: Sophie + Brad get hitched in lush green style
Categories Real weddings.04 Oct, 2020
Down-to-earth and relaxed couple Sophie and Brad got married at the luscious green venue Glasshaus, around the corner from their house! Their ceremony was held at Glasshaus Outside, with the cocktail reception at Glasshaus Inside. DJ Aleks Mac provided the tunes for this truly fun celebration.
Victorian wedding directory Ivory Tribe wrote about this real wedding in their blog, with Sophie and Brad sharing insights into the whole wedding planning process!
The venue
Glasshaus is one of our favourite venues (and there are two of them – Outside and Inside). Located in Cremorne in inner city Melbourne, it is a plant nursery by day and transforms into a lush green function space by night. Read more about Glasshaus in our venue spotlight blog.
The vendors
Sophie and Brad chose a tribe of unpretentious, experienced suppliers who reflected their own warmth and genuineness. Sophie wore a show-stopping gown from Mariana Hardwick, with delicate bodice details from India. The couple was married by celebrant Zena Lythgo and had their stunning photos taken by Katie Harmsworth. Videographers Annette + Dani filmed the affair, and catering was provided by our friends at Fourside Events, who originally referred us to the couple! (Read more in our blog about perfecting your wedding catering with Katie from Fourside).
The music
Sophie and Brad had great taste in music – really varied, with no cheese! They considered their guest demographic in putting together genres, artists and tunes they liked, with a definite bias towards the classic stuff everyone loves! There was lots of Motown, smooth Rnb, 60s rock’n’roll, newer house tunes and some 80s thrown in for good measure.
They walked into the reception to The Beatles’ Love Me Do and did their first dance to Roy Orbison’s You Got It – an unexpected, upbeat and romantic song that perfectly suited their vibe.
The feedback
Sophie and Brad and their guests really enjoyed the night, without a single dull moment on the dance floor. They provided feedback on our services in the Ivory Tribe blog, and it’s enough to make us blush!
“DJ Aleks Mac was a superstar! We wanted a three hour dance-floor and she delivered!
“She was professional, communicative and made sure we were happy and excited from initial meeting to the night of! I can’t rave enough about DJ Aleks!
“Music can make or break a wedding and this lady made sure it was fun and upbeat, without any wedding cheesiness. We worked closely together on our music tastes. She was helpful with the run sheet making sure guests would get maximum music time and wouldn’t be bored between meals. She was much more than a DJ!”
