Why we love Half Acre in South Melbourne

We’ve played at Half Acre many times and can confidently say it’s got loads of features that make it a great choice for a wedding!

A modern and spacious space for your wedding

Half Acre has a modern and sophisticated aesthetic with plenty of space. Yet it still feels intimate and warm. Pretty unique, right? This industrial venue boasts a timber feature wall, high ceilings, and an open floor plan with plenty of natural light coming in.

It can cater to an impressive number of guests – 210 for a seated wedding and 400 for a cocktail format!

Have your ceremony and reception in one venue

Half Acre is perfectly set up for all parts of your big day including pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. The reception space is curtained off during ceremony so it feels like you’re in a different space for the early parts of your wedding. A dramatic room reveal takes place following cocktail hour, showing off your beautiful reception set up!

The venue also features a gorgeous courtyard (pictured above), which is perfect for photos and drinks when the weather behaves!

Delicious food and drinks

The venue is run by catering company Food & Desire and we can say from experience, the food is bloody delicious! If good food and booze is important to you, you won’t be disappointed!

In-house sound system

A spacious venue requires a lot of speakers! Luckily, Half Acre has plenty of in-house speakers, which ensures the music and sound is at the right levels and can be heard all throughout the venue.

They also always have an AV specialist from Harry the Hirer for the duration of the event. We’re biased, but we think having a sound specialist there all night is awesome!

The venue also provides a shiny black booth for your DJ, which looks slick and can easily be moved to your preferred position, depending on your floor plan.

A big (and dedicated) dance floor

Oh, the dance floor at Half Acre… we LOVE it. It’s a large space located near the bar and when hired with Half Acre’s lights, it creates a real night club atmosphere! Having a large dedicated space for the dance floor is great for big party vibes!
